Rebecca’s kitchen had been remodeled by the decades one layer at a time: dark wood paneling, a patchwork floor, and cabinets that had given all they had. Rather than paint over the problem, we took the room back to its bones and started clean.
Demo went deep. We tore out the old pantry, the dated cabinets, the paneling and the failing floor, then moved and rebuilt the pantry wall from the studs, inside and out. That new wall gave the refrigerator a real home: we framed and finished a built-in enclosure so it sits flush instead of jutting into the room. Every scrap left the site the same week on our trailer.
With the structure reset, we squared up the drywall, ran new lighting, and set large-format porcelain tile across the kitchen and the adjoining rooms for one continuous, easy-clean floor.
The rebuild brought the contrast: fresh white shaker-style cabinets against deep navy accent walls, quartz-look counters, a statement pendant over the breakfast nook, and a stocked walk-in pantry with built-in shelving. What had been a house of leftovers now reads like one intentional, cohesive home.
